Mrs. Kristina Byrd
My name is Kristina Byrd. This will be my 13th year teaching at Holly Hill Elementary. I am married to Nicholas Byrd. We have two sons, Nixon (7) and Braxton (1). I graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
I was born in Berlin, Germany, where my dad was currently serving in the United States Military. From there we moved to Illesheim, Germany where my school career began. I enrolled as a kindergarten student at Illesheim Elementary/Middle School and remained there until third grade. My family then moved to Enterprise, Alabama, where I currently live. I spent my remaining three elementary grades, fourth through sixth, at Holly Hill Elementary School. I then proceeded to Coppinville Jr. High School for seventh grade and then completed eighth and ninth grade at Dauphin Jr. High School. My high school years, tenth through twelfth, were completed at Enterprise High School. I am a 2007 graduate of Enterprise High School. Upon graduation, I was accepted into Troy University. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2011.
I chose the field of education not only because I have a passion for children and young adults, but I also have the ambition to care and educate each child as if they were one of my own. I believe it is very important for educators to have an understanding that each child has a different background and story and it is my priority to always be a good listener, to show compassion, and to have an understanding of each child's diversity within my classroom. I believe that children are the main focus in the classroom. I think that students should be taught the entire curriculum, but at the same time the teacher should be flexible enough to add in any additional information that will interest them. I also think that educators should present knowledge in a way that the students will successfully remember the information and enjoy learning it. I believe that if educators take the time to get to know their students and their learning styles, the student's learning ability will improve. The students' education is the most important responsibility to me as an educator. I love making differences in children's lives and encouraging them to be the best that they can be!
