Mrs. Allison Baxter
My name is Allison Baxter and I love to teach Reading! Above all, I love to teach students little tricks and strategies to boost their confidence in reading. Reading comes to life as we visualize sentences, poems, and stories. Students and I chant fun cheers in order to remember important concepts. Being able to read fluently and to comprehend well is vital for young children as it creates massive opportunities for their "not-so distant" future.
Since I was young, I had dreams of becoming a marine biologist (not a teacher), so I majored in Marine Biology and Psychology. However, life took a different route after college. Rather than living by the sea, I worked as an office manager of my father's floor covering business for 10 years before then becoming a teacher. I feel lucky to have worked alongside my father, as I am now proud to be an educator like my mother (but, I still love to play in the ocean and study marine life)!
My husband, Kevin, and I have been married for 28 years. We have one son, Elliott, who is 23. I enjoy teaching water aerobics and watching Braves baseball/ Alabama football. To make watching sports all the more interesting, our vocal doberman loves to howl loudly when there's a good play (chiming in with our cheering).
I not only TEACH awesome children, I LEARN from them, as well. "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven..." (Matthew 18:3)
